The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) can provide you with funding to look for a new home, for modifications or with Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) funding.
It can also fund you to get help at home from supported independent living (SIL) contractors.
You may have a budget for support hours to help you find a home with particular features or one in a specific location near services.
NDIS housing options can help you.
- Home seeker or SDA funding can help you enjoy your right to choose where you live.
- SIL funding can help you stay where you choose, living independently but still assisted at home.
SDA-funded housing is targeted at people with very high support needs and, if you are eligible, will be in your NDIS plan.
Regardless of whether you have SDA funding or not, you can still get support to find an accessible home or have your home modified to suit you.
If you are reviewing your NDIS plan you could add or modify your funding request to help you find a home or have it adapted to suit you, or get extra help at home. Local area coordinators or NDIS planners are able to discuss your options with you.
